Trigg County repeated as state powerlifting champions with a convincing win at the state meet Saturday at Central Hardin High School.
Trigg totaled 105 points with Louisville Trinity finishing second with 89 points. After winning five straight state titles, Trinity has finished second to Trigg County the past two years.
Trigg had three individual state champions Saturday, marking the 25th straight year Trigg has produced at least one state champion. Since 1984, Trigg County has had 65 individual state champions.
Scotty Mayes won his third straight state title, claiming the 155-pound class for the second straight year. He won the 145-pound class as a sophomore.
Mayes broke an 18-year-old dead lift record in the process.
Drew Pool won his first state title, winning the 175-pound class.
The back-to-back state titles for Trigg County marks the first time since winning three straight from 1993-95.
The state title is the ninth for Trigg County, which is three more than Christian County who has the second most titles.
