The Trigg County elementary ArrowCats kept their streak alive, marking the sixth straight year that a Trigg school has won a state title.

Trigg beat Lewisburg and Paynesville Elementary School Tuesday in Louisville.

Patsy Banister won the elementary division and placed third in the scholarship shoot-out, winning $750.

More than 1,700 students from 37 elementary, 42 middle and 35 high schools from all over Kentucky competed in the tournament. Each participant shot 30 arrows in the competition from either 10 or 15 meters for a possible 300 points. A bull’s eye is worth 10 points.

All of the top three finishers in the team divisions for elementary, middle and high schools qualify for the national archery tournament scheduled for May 10 in Louisville. The top finishers in the individual awards for each division also qualify for the national tournament.
