University Heights forward Scotty Hopson committed to play basketball at Mississippi State earlier this year. Today was the first day of the official signing season, but Hopson appears to have wavered a bit.
A story in today's Kentucky New Era said Hopson was set to sign Friday at 7pm at a school function.
“I guess I can say, I’m going to sign Friday night — we have our big ‘Blazers’ Night Out’ event,” Hopson told the New Era. “It’s going to be great — a lot of smiles, a lot of laughs and we’re going to have a good time,” he added. “So signing is just something to hope for in the future. It’s just me going to college, I’m going to have to do it anyway, so I guess I can get it out of the way now.”
However, Jody Demling reported on his blog Wednesday that Hopson told him he wasn't going to sign in the early period, calling it "a family decision."
